Get a Taste of 30A at the SoWal Beach Food & Wine Festival
On the one hand, the SoWal Beach Food & Wine Festival is a great way to eat, drink, and auction for an incredible cause; on the other hand, it is also a taste of 30A, a chain of unique, luxurious Florida Gulf Coast communities that love to gather and to give back while showing an appreciation for the finer things in life.
Let the Festivities Begin! On April 23, 2015, the South Walton Beaches Food & Wine Festival begins. Dubbed the SoWal Beach Food & Wine Festival, this charitable event supports the Destin Wine Auction Foundation, and proceeds will benefit Northwest Florida children in need. In fact, this event was named one of the “Top 10 Charity Wine Auction” events by nationally distributed Wine Spectator magazine. The event concludes on April 26. It is presented by South Walton Florida and Wine Enthusiast and is to be held on Grand Boulevard at Sandestin.
If you are one who loves food (perhaps you identify as a foodie, one with a sophisticated appreciation for the culinary arts), appreciates fine wine, wine pairings, and spirits and other beverages, and who enjoys congregating for a good cause, then you may find that Sandestin and 30A in general are so very much your flute of champagne that you take up residence here. The SoWal Beach Food & Wine Festival is one of many tasting events that take place along the 30A stretch of the Florida panhandle every spring and throughout the year.
Event Schedule Rundown
On the first night of the event, Thursday, April 23, there will be an invitation-only at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, which is a great place to stay if you’re attending the event. If you’re coming, that’s a perfect night to get settled in and to explore the local scenery getting prepared for the next night of events.
Friday, April 24 – Wine, Spirits, & Beer
The events start at Wine World in Destin with winemakers from some of the world’s top wineries. Wine World is a local delight with locations in Destin, WaterColor, and elsewhere on 30A. Wine World is popular for hosting weekly tastings. Even when they aren’t having a tasting, they are a great place to head for a wine and cheese platter, which is perfect for starting or concluding an evening of frivolity.
Following wine events at Wine World, the action will migrate to Town Center and Grand Park where craft beers and spirits from local and nationally acclaimed breweries and distilleries will take place. Boukou Groove will provide live accompaniment turning the tasting into a veritable soiree.
Saturday, April 24 & Sunday, April 25 – VIP Tasting & Grand Tasting
Make sure your palate gets plenty of rest the night before because you won’t want a fatigued palate by any means. The VIP Wine Tasting starts at 11:00 p.m. in Grand Park where you’ll be privy to rare and collectable wines and will be provided a complimentary commemorative Riedel glass. VIP access also permits you to the Grand Tasting, which begins at 1:00 p.m.
- Champagne Lane
- Wine & Food Tastings & Seminars

The SoWal Beach Food & Wine Festival will be a weekend of luxe wine, spirits, and food, of entertainment, and of philanthropy. Rather than being an anomaly, these kinds of events are the sorts of things that the emerald coast trip between Destin and Panama City are made of. Locals love being a part of a greater cause, and they’re always happy to welcome visitors (and future locals) to join in on the fun.
